Tech Learning Curve Video

My first initial reaction to the video is related to the gentleman who arrives to assist the one who is trying to open the book. He asks the user the simplest and most obvious question, if he has tried to open the book. I chuckled at that as there was a time when we would call our IT help desk at work with an issue and the first thing they would ask us was if we tried to restart our computer. It also reminds me of how I need to walk my mother (sorry mom) through the process of how to use various pieces of technology.  I take her through it step by step, explaining each step thoroughly and she always questions why/what each step is exactly for.

The overall concept of the video for me highlights the notion that once you sit down, analyze and try out / test technology or an application (with some guidance if necessary) you can at the very least understand the basics. Once you comprehend those, you can then also apply what you have learned to utilize other technology/applications as well. The nuts and bolts are basically the same.

1st Group Meeting

Group collaboration projects have always brought me angst, from the time I experienced my first one in middle school.  Gratifying and collaborative experiences have been rare. I was pleasantly surprised that my observation of this group was that we are very diversified artistically (music, theater, dance) and are all very personable. We chatted a bit about who we were, where we came from and some general background information. Dannie came up with the Team Name, Art Attack, which was inspired by our diverse artistic backgrounds. I think this should be a fun project, though I am not sure what to expect. Here we go!

And so it begins

One of my girlfriends has been trying to convince me for a few months that I should start a blog, so I guess now is a good opportunity. I'm honestly not sure if I have the motivation to keep it up. I bought myself a diary in college (undergraduate) with the best intentions to write in it often and it's not even a quarter full. That was in the late 90's....ouch.

I tend to speak my mind and say it like it is. So try not to be offended. And if you are, apoligies in advance.

Here's to a new adventure....
